If you own a car, having to pay for car insurance is just a fact of life, though there are ways you can be safeguarding your car, as well as reducing the amount of insurance you need to pay. The following are some of the ways to keep your car insurance premiums low.
Take Additional Driving Courses
Passing your driving test doesn’t necessarily mean that you are a good driver, though going to the trouble of getting additional driving instruction will mean you are way less likely to be seen as a liability by your insurance company. Sometimes getting extra certification can be really easy and quite inexpensive, so if you want to be saving money on your insurance policy, make sure it’s clear how great a driver you are, and get a couple more certificates.
Use The Garage
Where you store your car will make a big difference to the cost of having it insured, as having it parked on the street will make it far more likely to be damaged than if it was safely locked away in your garage. If you have a garage, use it, and if not, it might be worth looking into finding one for your car, as you could be saving a lot of money on your insurance.
Live In A Safer Neighbourhood
Your rate of insurance will vary a lot depending on the neighbourhood that you live in, meaning if you have a nice car and live in a bad area, you are going to be considered quite high risk by the insurance company, and will therefore be paying a lot. Moving to a safer area will mean your car insurance premium will drop significantly.
Get An Alarm System
The more you do to keep your car safe, the less you will have to pay for insurance, as insurance companies love people who make an effort to keep their things safe. Any type of alarm system is better than none, as most would be thieves prefer to target cars that have no security at all, so investing in even a cheap alarm will mean your car is way safer, and your insurance bill smaller.
Don’t Modify
As soon as you do something special to your car and modify it, your insurance premium will go up, as your vehicle is now seen as being more likely to be targeted. So before you make any big changes to your beloved vehicle, compare car insurance quotes online, and find out if you will be able to afford the increase in insurance costs.
It’s always going to cost you something, though car insurance doesn’t need to cost you the earth. Keeping your insurance premium low is all about being smart and as safe as possible when it comes to your car. This will not only keep your insurance costs low, but it will also greatly reduce the chances of anything happening to your car; preventing a problem from happening is far better than having to deal with it after the fact.

Feeling like your life is a little out of control and not sure where you’re headed lately? Don’t worry – you’re not the only one!
We all struggle from time to time through lack of motivation or direction, or with circumstances that are beyond our control. Here are some ways to help you take back that control and start worrying less.
- Learn to rely on yourself first.
The number one way you can feel more in control of your life is by making sure you are in control!
It might not be possible in all aspects of your life – we cannot control others and when it comes to work or services where we cannot go it alone, we really shouldn’t waste our time trying to: spend time trying to let go of that urge instead.
However, where control is possible – i.e. how you transport yourself from place to place, the standard to which you complete your own work, how you choose to entertain yourself: learn that these are all within your own control and start making the changes necessary to help you feel good about them.
- Be prepared for the unexpected.
Having health insurance, car insurance and other such protections will help you feel less anxious about potential disasters. It stop you worrying about what you would do if something were to happen. Knowing that you will, at the very least, be covered financially will take a lot of weight off your shoulders.
- Know what you want to do.
Put together a list of those things you want to change in your life, and what you want to achieve. Taking the time to figure this out, and knowing how you plan to tick each box will help with your focus and direction.
We all have those tasks at the back of our mind that we’re saving for the next rainy day, yet when the opportunity arises, we always seem to get distracted doing something else.
Don’t let yourself get distracted any longer! Draw up the list and have an end date in mind for each task: maybe this weekend is the weekend you finally take your vehicle in for its car service. The more you stick to your list, the prouder and more in control you will feel of your life.
- Only worry about what you can change.
If there are aspects of your life that you cannot or will never be able to control: then do not worry about them. You will never feel calm or stress-free if you waste your time worrying about something that you can’t do anything about.
You can do your best to influence outcomes, but if a situation is truly out of your control, search for a distraction or a new task or activity instead: letting go is difficult but not impossible!
- Concentrate on the positives.
Be sure to recognise and congratulate yourself on the aspects of your life that you do have under control and are going well: remember your achievements as well as your failures.

Car insurance is vital and buying into should be done before you even think about driving your car. Some people may think they don’t need it, as they have never had a road accident yet, but this simply isn’t true. This reasoning isn’t acceptable and not having car insurance is a criminal offence.
If you are caught driving without insurance, you will be punished and may even have your vehicle taken away – not ideal if you use it daily, or for work.
Car insurance quotes can be found from many providers and some offer an online booking tool. This makes finding a quote a easy and simple process. It also means finding the best quote to suit your needs doesn’t require you to even leave the house.
In order to source the most apt quote to suit your needs, you should think about what you require from an insurance policy. For example, if you use your car every day, venture out on long journeys, or commute to work, you will really need an insurance cover that offers breakdown cover as well.
First time buyers with no claims should apply for an accelerated zero no claims policy. This will allow them to build up their no claims even faster, usually paying over 10 months, rather than a year, for 12 months cover.
In fact, with providers such as Endsleigh, students can build up their no claims within six months of taking out the policy, so this is worth considering if you are a new driver.
Endsleigh also offer another great customer incentive which means that repairs are guaranteed on your vehicle for up to five years when you use one of the brand’s approved garages.
If you break down unexpectedly breakdown cover is a great thing to have, as otherwise you will end up having to pay a garage to come out and fix the vehicle and this will probably cost a lot more than a yearly breakdown package. It will also be a hassle, whereas an approved repair company could be there quickly and won’t make you pay a premium for their services.

It’s a hot topic right now, the topic of buying a car in United States instead of Canada. Many Canadian’s in the market for a new car see the differences in MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price) between a car in Canada and the same car in the United States. That difference in many cases makes the case of buying a car in the United States instead of Canada that much stronger and many are making the hop over the border or researching online to check things out.
Buying a car in United States isn’t as easy as it may seem. Many Canadian’s think all they have to do is buy the car, pay the duty and voila they are on their way to saving HUGE!
In addition to the paying of the duty there are a few other hurdles Canadian’s have to overcome when. Here is just a quick low down of what you need to consider if you are thinking about buying a new car:
1. Dealerships have a franchise agreement which prohibits them from selling cars to anyone outside of the country. I have heard stories of people actually finding dealerships who will break their franchise agreements, but it is a challenge.
2. The new car you buy is going to be cash because you won’t be able to qualify for US financing or leasing rates and any rebates are not applicable to you.
3. If you were contemplating on using your current car as a trade you might face a challenge again. The US market if “fat” with used cars and may not even want to consider your car in the deal.
4. If you live close to a border crossing then making the trek over a few times isn’t such a hardship for you, but, if you leave further away plan on making a few weekend trips and add that expense into the mix.
5. If you are thinking about buying a car in the United States instead of Canada know that there are equipment modifications you need to make to the vehicle you can check them out here Buying a car in United States instead of Canada [http://www.insurmycar.ca/buyingacarinunitedstatesinteadofcanada.html]
6. Check with Transport Canada and Canada Customs to make sure the car you are looking at Buying a car in United States instead of Canada [http://www.insurmycar.ca/buyingacarinunitedstatesinteadofcanada.html] is admissible into Canada and what other documentation you need.
7. If you are looking at buying a used car the hoops and jumps aren’t as great but check and make sure.
Buying a car in United States instead of Canada may seem better when comparing MSRPs between the United States and Canada but there is a lot more you need to consider. Make sure you do your research not only on the car but also what requirements you need to look at.

Q: I am visiting the USA for three months this summer and was wondering if I would need to purchase a policy for this brief time?
A: While it is unlikely you will be buying and registering a car for your brief visit if this is your plan you will need to purchase car insurance in the USA. If you are staying with friends or relatives it is unlikely you would have to purchase insurance for your visit, unless you wind up staying longer than your original plans called for.
If you are planning on renting a car we highly recommend you buy the optional car insurance coverage. Why get embroiled in an international lawsuit just to skip paying the relatively cheap rental car insurance.
Since we are not a lawyers, and don’t pretend to be, we recommend that you consult with an attorney before driving in the United States as licensing may also be an issue. If a lawyer is too costly you should call the Department of insurance for the state you will be visiting and just ask them.
Car insurance in the USA is a complicated issue as each state has their own specific requirements. We hope that we have at least put you on the right track.
One thing that we strongly recommend doing is shopping around for car insurance rates online. The Internet makes it extremely easy to compare quotes and to ultimately save money on your annual auto insurance premiums. Don’t make the mistake that many drivers are guilty of, which is simply jumping on the first quote they’re given.
