Finding the Right Car for your Wedding

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Once you have booked the venue, found the dress, organised your bridesmaids and selected a florist, it’s time to put all the finishing touches on your wedding. One of the finishing touches is finding and booking the right car to get you and your bridal party to the venue on time.

The right car can play an important role in your wedding. Much more than just ‘transport’, the right car can add style to your overall wedding, and double as an aesthetic prop when it comes to taking your photos.

Choosing the right car for your wedding is much more complex than simply choosing the car of your dreams. You need to select a car that compliments the style of your wedding, fits into your budget and can transport the number of people you require it for.

Another important factor to consider is the season your wedding is in. While an open-top car sounds amazing, it might not live up to your expectations if it is a bitterly cold or raining. So, make sure you choose something that is season appropriate. You don’t want to turn up to your special day drenched head to toe!

As with all weddings, the devil is in the detail so make sure you meet the hire car company face-to-face and see the cars for yourself. So many people settle with a few conversations over the phone and an image of the car. More often than not, this can lead disappointment if the car doesn’t look exactly the way you expected, so save yourself the grief and visit the vehicle before you decide on it. This is an absolute must if the vehicle you are planning on hiring is considered a “classic”.

While classic cars can add a wordly charm to your wedding, they can have overly greased door hinges, which do not combine well with whiter-than-white bridal gowns so it is best to check the cleanliness of the vehicle before you agree to it.

In determining which car is right for you, you need to consider how many people will be travelling in it and for how long. If you are having problems deciding on a style of car, this might rule out a few options because most classic cars are quite small with only enough space for a bride and groom. In the event that you do choose a classic car, you may need to organise additional cars for your bridal party.
